Guangdong released wooden furniture test results 87 batches of furniture failed
The Guangdong Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau recently released the results of provincial-level regular supervision and inspection of the quality of wood furniture products. A total of 87 batches of unqualified products were found. The problems involved formaldehyde emission, heavy metal content, mechanical properties, physical and chemical properties of paint film, soft and hard coating. The performance, woodworking requirements, appearance of wood-based panels and other items were unqualified, including 42 batches involving unqualified formaldehyde emission. According to reports, this regular supervision and inspection involves 747 batches of wood furniture products produced by 502 enterprises in 11 cities (districts) including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Shanwei, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing and Shunde. It was found that 87 batches were unqualified, and the unqualified product discovery rate was 11.6%. Among them, wooden furniture involves formaldehyde emission, heavy metal content, mechanical properties, physical and chemical properties of paint film, physical and chemical properties of soft and hard covering, woodworking requirements, appearance of artificial panels, etc.; children's furniture (children's furniture decoration renderings) involves structural safety ( Edge and tip), hazardous substances (formaldehyde emission, surface coating transferable element content), warning signs, appearance requirements (wooden appearance) and other items. The test results showed that there were 42 batches involving unqualified formaldehyde emission, accounting for nearly half of the unqualified batches. Compared with the relevant standards of European and American countries, China's testing standards for formaldehyde emission from furniture are relatively loose: China's regulations on formaldehyde emission from furniture are not more than 1.5mg/L. Industry analysts believe that the main reason for the excessive formaldehyde is that manufacturers use unqualified wood-based panels and inferior adhesives to reduce costs. Most panel furniture is bonded with fiberboard or particleboard. As a result, adhesives are used for veneering and edge sealing, and the adhesive is the source of formaldehyde.
