The report jointly issued by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electrical Products and the Organizing Committee of the Machinery Expo said that since February 2010, China's machine tool imports have achieved year-on-year growth for three consecutive months, including 11,000 units in April. The growth rate was 1.5 times and the chain increased by 3.9%. The import volume exceeded 10,000 units in two consecutive months, setting a new monthly import volume since 2008.
It is worth noting that the average unit price of CNC machine tools (including machining centers) has undergone major changes: compared with 2008, the unit price of imports has risen, the unit price of exports has fallen, and the terms of trade have deteriorated. In 2008, the average unit price of imports was 160,700 US dollars, and the average unit price of exports was 34,500 US dollars; in 2009, imports were 221,700 US dollars and exports were 31,400 US dollars.
According to the report, China's machine tool export price and import price are quite different, which is more obvious in CNC metalworking machine tools and combination machine tools. The ratio of the export price to the import price of these two kinds of machine tools is 0.11 and 0.01 respectively, indicating that the domestic technical content and export competitiveness of these two high-tech products are far from the foreign products. At present, China's high-tech manufacturers are rare, and the high-end CNC machine tools needed for economic development still rely mainly on imports. The CNC systems and functional components required for medium and high-end CNC machine tools are mainly from overseas.

Machine tool import price increase, import and export unit price difference expanded
On September 23, the Research Report on Promoting Independent Innovation, Transformation and Upgrading of China's Electromechanical Industry, released at the 11th China International Electromechanical Products Expo held in Wuhan, said that with the continuous expansion of the scale of investment in fixed assets of China's equipment industry, Demand for more and more of this year, China's machine tool import prices increased in increments this year, the import volume hit a new monthly high since 2008.
