Caesar Aluminum intends to close Tulsa aluminum extrusion equipment

Caesar Aluminum announced plans to close its extrusion plant at Tulsa Aluminum Plant in Oklahoma and to reduce production capacity at the Bellwood Aluminum Plant in Virginia. It is expected that about 170 people will face layoffs. Production cuts and layoffs will be completed in early 2009. Tulsa Aluminum Plant and Bellwood Aluminum Plant mainly produce seamless aluminum tubes and seamless aluminum rods. The products are mainly used in construction machinery and equipment. Caesar Aluminum stated that layoffs are based on the continuing deterioration of the economic situation and market conditions, however, the company will continue to supply seamless pipes, seamless rods and drive shafts for the automotive and other industries. Caesars Aluminum is a manufacturer of top aluminum processed products and supplies aluminum processed products for aviation, high-strength general engineering and automotive industries. Caesars Aluminum employs more than 2,000 people and operates 11 plants in North America. It annually produces 500 million tons of high value-added aluminum sheet, aluminum extrusion products, aluminum forgings, aluminum rods and aluminum cans.
