Dong Weiguo, Director of the Higher Education Technology Department of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Zuo Tiejun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhou Meiling, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of New Functional Materials of the Beijing University of Technology, and Director of the Institute of Powder Metallurgy and Special Materials, Beijing Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals Professor Lin Chenguang and leaders and experts from Beijing University of Science and Technology, Antai Technology Co., Ltd., Zhuzhou Cemented Carbide Group Co., Ltd., Jiangxi Rare Earth Metal Tungsten Group, Nanchang University and Nanchang Nonferrous Design Institute visited the acceptance meeting.

At the meeting, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology made a report on the project construction of the “Engineering Research Center for the High-efficiency Development and Application Technology of Tungsten Resourcesâ€. The engineering center has been introduced in detail in terms of the construction overview of the engineering research center, organization and management, construction plan implementation, engineering features and near-term engineering tasks.
The experts of the acceptance expert group also visited the engineering center on site. The participating experts discussed the orientation of the Engineering Research Center, the center engineering construction, the cooperation model of production, education and research, the effectiveness of project construction and the smelting and recycling of tungsten resources, especially in the research and development of key technologies in the industry, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the operation mechanism and management mode. And opinions and suggestions on quantitative assessment targets.
Through evaluation, the expert group believes that the construction of the “Tungsten Resource Efficient Development and Application Technology Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center†of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology has been established for two years. The center has a strong technical team, complete facilities and equipment, clear professional orientation, and distinctive features. Accurate, the research direction is correct, the research ideas are clear, the results are very significant, and the construction projects have completely exceeded the tasks stipulated by the Ministry of Education.
It is understood that the Ministry of Education's Tungsten Resource Efficient Development and Applied Technology Engineering Research Center was approved by the Ministry of Education in October 2007. In 2008, the National Human Resources and Social Security Department approved the establishment of a postdoctoral research station. During the 2 years of construction, the Engineering Center has undertaken 3 national science and technology research projects, 6 national natural science fund projects, provincial and ministerial science and technology research projects and provincial natural science fund projects in the field of efficient development and application of tungsten resources. The project won 1 second prize for national scientific and technological progress, 2 first prizes for provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress, 5 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 4 national patents, 2 approvals, and a number of awards. It has scientific and technological achievements that have an important impact on the technological progress of the industry and has been widely promoted and applied. The engineering research funding reached 15.765 million yuan/year, and the economic benefits of the project reached 336.28 million yuan. For example, “White (black) tungsten ore clean and efficient production of ultra-high-performance tungsten powder complete sets of technology and industrialization†won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2008, and was promoted and applied in 9 large and medium-sized tungsten enterprises.
